In A Landscape: Maryhill Museum of Art https://www.allclassical.org/event-archive/in-a-landscape-maryhill-museum-of-art/ Tue, 05 May 2026 16:16:38 +0000 https://www.allclassical.org/?post_type=ajde_events&p=112322 Celebrating more than eight decades as a public institution, Maryhill Museum of Art houses a wide-ranging collection spanning European and American art, Indigenous art, fashion and textiles, contemporary sculpture, and decorative arts, including more than 80 works by Auguste Rodin. Founded in 1917 by pioneer Samuel Hill, the museum sits above the Columbia River Gorge, with expansive views across the river and surrounding landscape.

The museum also holds more than 3,500 objects from Hill’s personal collection that reflect the Indigenous heritage of the region, including the histories and continuing presence of the 14 tribes and bands of the Yakama Nation.

The IN A LANDSCAPE concert takes place outdoors adjacent to The Maryhill Overlook, a site-specific sculpture by architect Brad Cloepfil, at the edge of the museum grounds. Listeners park nearby and walk a short distance along a trail to settle informally throughout the landscape among sagebrush overlooking the Columbia River.

In A Landscape: Suncadia https://www.allclassical.org/event-archive/in-a-landscape-suncadia/ Tue, 05 May 2026 16:01:40 +0000 https://www.allclassical.org/?post_type=ajde_events&p=112320 Located east of Seattle along Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascade Mountains, Suncadia is a resort community shaped by conservation and landscape stewardship. Of its 6,400 acres, roughly two-thirds remain protected through conservation easements held in partnership with the Kittitas Conservation Trust, preserving forest, meadow, and river corridors along the Cle Elum River.

The IN A LANDSCAPE concert takes place in a forest clearing at the north edge of the lodge, overlooking the Cle Elum River as it moves through the canyon below. Many listeners choose to arrive early to explore nearby trails or extend their stay on property, where lodging and dining are easily accessible before and after the concert.

This site is located on the traditional homelands of the Kittitas people, part of the Yakama Nation, and other closely related Indigenous groups. The name “Cle Elum” comes from the Kittitas language, meaning “swift water.”

In A Landscape: Golden Gardens Park https://www.allclassical.org/event-archive/in-a-landscape-golden-gardens-park/ Tue, 05 May 2026 15:46:01 +0000 https://www.allclassical.org/?post_type=ajde_events&p=112316 Located along the shores of Puget Sound, Golden Gardens Park offers wide views across the water toward the Olympic Mountains. The park’s open beach, forested slopes, and restored shoreline reflect both its coastal setting and long history as a gathering place at the edge of the city.

Golden Gardens was developed in 1907 by Harry W. Treat as the destination of the Ballard Beach streetcar line, created to draw Seattle residents west for a day at the water. Over time, the site transitioned into public parkland and remains one of Seattle’s enduring waterfront landscapes.

The IN A LANDSCAPE concert takes place on the lawn at the north end of the park, with space to gather near the piano and move through paths leading past the duck pond and onto a quieter stretch of beach.

This concert is presented in partnership with Trust for Public Land, a national nonprofit working to connect people to the outdoors and protect public land for public use. From iconic landscapes to neighborhood parks, TPL works with communities to create and care for places where people can gather, play, and experience nature.

This event takes place on the ancestral homeland of the Duwamish and Suquamish peoples.
